Ayurveda for Dry Skin Allergies

Before you know what treatment is available in Ayurveda for dry skin, you must know what a dry skin condition is and the probable symptoms that you or your close one is suffering from dry skin problems.

White scratches and dry feeling is not what dry skin is all about. A person suffering from intense dry skin problem will undergo the following. It’s time you wake up and check if you fall into any one of the symptoms:

  • Itching frequently on lower abdomen, hands and legs (especially the lower legs), ankles etc.
  • Raised bumps and red patches on the skin
  • Rubbery feeling in the skin because of over itching
  • Irritated feeling on the skin and the urge to itch all the time
  • Infected scratches
  • Bleeding stains because of itching
  • Scars on skin due to over itching

Let your skin drink for the difference

Smoothies is what you have been drinking on and off in your life. But, to get rid of dry skin, its time you feed your skin with some wonderful smoothie to drink up. In a bowl, add 2 bananas and mash it well. Add 2 tablespoons of honey to this mixture, use a hand beater or electric beater to blend this mixture into a very smooth and fine paste. Apply this pack to the dried parts of your skin – your legs, arms etc. and leave it on for 20 mins. Let your skin drink up all the liquid in these 20 mins. Wash it off with warm water and towel dry your skin. Using this pack once or twice in a week will bring marked difference to your skin. Pamper it.

Now, time to spice up your skin

Now that you have made your skin drink some smoothie, let’s give it some spice too. In a bowl, mix in 2 tablespoons of barley powder, a teaspoon of organic turmeric powder (referred to as kasthuri manjal, you will get this in the Indian supermarkets and online stores), 2 teaspoons of mustard oil and mix all the ingredients into a fine paste. The reason for adding in the organic form of turmeric is to avoid the yellow tint on your skin. Apply this mixture to the dry parts of your skin and leave it on for 20 mins or more. Wash it off with warm water and to remove the dry patches use your palms and not any other bathing sponge.

The eggy spa

Egg yolk and its white liquid are very well-known for their moisturizing capacity. Beat both the yolk and the white of an egg or two and apply this pack to the dry areas of your skin. Wash it off after 20 mins with luke warm water and a mild cleanser.

The general tips section

Apart from the specific tips above, follow these simple and general tips on a daily basis to get cured of dry skin problem:

  • Massage your skin with olive or almond oil and leave it on for 20 minutes before your morning bath
  • Use a herbal moisturizer which is less in chemical content, on a daily basis, either after a shower or before you go to bed
  • Drink at least 10 glasses of water in a day to flush off the toxins from your body
  • Go in oil baths at least once in a week to receive the best results
