Home Remedies for Dry Hair

1. The Ayurvedic Rice Milk treatment for dry hair

Have your heard of your ancestors using rice milk along with Sikakhai to wash their hair? If not, talk to your granny and she’ll let out the secret. Pressure cookers came into kitchens while the nourishing rice milk had to leave the beauty world! Yes, rice milk (kanji) is a simple one to make. Boil a handful of rice in an open pot along with 4 cups of water until the rice turns soft and edible. You’ll see the starchy liquid still floating on the rice. Use a muslin cloth and filter out the starchy water and cool down the water. Add a teaspoon of coconut oil to the water and apply this mask to your hair. Let it on for half an hour and then wash your hair with your regular shampoo. Your frizz will look tamed and controlled and your hair will glow with shine!

2. Curd and egg natural remedy for dry hair

Beat an egg until the white and yellow mix up well. Add a teaspoon or two of thick yogurt and apply the pack to your hair and scalp. Concentrate on your frizzy front hair and fly-away hair and leave it on for 40 minutes. Then use a regular shampoo and conditioner. Ensure you use plain/cold water through the washing process while you have this mask on. This will hydrate your hair really well and give every strand a moisturized feeling to flaunt!

3. Hot oil hair mask remedy

In a small boiling pan, pour in a tablespoon of coconut oil, almond oil, avocado oil or jojoba oil and heat it until you see fumes. Turn the flame off and add in a few fresh curry leaves to the oil. The leaves will get fried well and might turn black too. Once the oil is bearably warm, throw out the curry leaves or filter the oil and use a cotton pad to spread the oil throughout your scalp. Use your fingertips and massage your scalp for at least 5-10 minutes. Concentrate on your fly-away hair and driest part of the scalp and on the hair tips. Leave this hair oil mask on at least for half an hour and then wash it off with your regular mild shampoo. You won’t need a conditioner for your hair wash when you have this mask on.

4. Egg and olive mania

The very famous and raved about hair mask is a whip of egg whites and olive oil; especially the extra virgin variety. Break the egg and strain out the white portion; add a generous tablespoon of olive oil into it. Whip both these together and apply it on your hair tips, mid length of the hair and massage the rest into your scalp. Leave it on for 40 minutes before you wash it off with plain/cold water and your regular shampoo. Skip the conditioner

5. Avocado and honey

Scoop out a ripe avocado and mash it well either with a spoon or using the blender. Add in a generous serving of honey to the mixture. When the pack is still afresh, apply it to your hair and scalp and focus on the hair tips. Wash the pack off your hair using luke warm water, mild shampoo and follow it up with your regular conditioner. Not only will your hair look hydrated and nourished, but will be more manageable and frizz-free too.
