Dengue Fever: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment

Causes and symptoms:

  • Dengue is caused by mosquitoes. Dengue by itself is a family or accumulation of viruses. Mosquitoes are the transmitting or carrying agent of these harmful viruses into the human body.
  • Dengue is prevalent in tropical and sub-tropical regions. Muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes, fever, rash, headache etc. are initial symptoms of dengue fever.
  • Since this fever is caused by a family of viruses, there is no particular or clear-set and targeted remedy. The fever and inflammation is brought down with various antibiotics in the western medicine, while it is cured and healed through effective herbs in Ayurveda.
  • The only prevention of dengue is eradicating the presence of mosquitoes and living in a clean and hygienic atmosphere.
  • Currently, there are no vaccines for dengue.

Ayurvedic treatment for dengue:

  • Eating green leafy vegetables and fruits can ward off the infection and strengthen your immune system.
  • Adding turmeric powder, clove and garlic to a bowl of hot steaming soup or any recipe will prove to be useful. It will induce the fighting capacity of your immune cells.
  • Eating red rice will quicken the healing of dengue fever, as per reports.
  • Making a paste out of methi (fenugreek) leaves and Indian gooseberry (amla) leaves will help in bidding adieu to high temperatures caused by dengue.
  • Avoiding junk and high sugar containing foods is a mandate for a quick healing process.
  • Boiling 10-15 holy basil leaves and drinking the decoction is an Ayurvedic medicine for dengue fever.
  • Neem leaves’ juice is also a recommended Ayurvedic medicine for dengue.
  • Papaya leaves extracts are capsuled in the English medicine to treat dengue fever. You could instead boil a few papaya leaves in water and keep sipping on the filtered papaya water, several times a day for best results.
